I Miss Good Sleep

The sleeping thing is not going so well. I have a hard time falling asleep at night, then once I do I am waking up every few hours to go to the bathroom. I usually wake up at 4am and can't fall back asleep. When I do, I sleep HARD until my alarm goes off at 6:30am and then I don't want to get up! It is a vicious cycle! I just want to be able to sleep through the night... but that probably won't happen now for a LONG time! grrr...

Week 15

Today marks 15 weeks - time is really flying by! At first I thought the weeks were crawling by so slowly, but now they seem to sneak by without me even knowing!

It has been a rough few days - nothing seems to make my tummy happy! Most of the food I have eaten has reappeared moments later. I am so ready for this part of pregnancy to be over!

Last night I met up with friends that I went to elementary school with - we are all still great friends. We get together each year around Christmas to eat and talk - it is the best time. Our sides usually hurt by the end of the night from laughing so hard! My best friend from grade school announced that she is also expecting! Baby #2 for her and her husband - and they are only 2 weeks behind us! She is also doctoring in the same place we are. We had to much in common growing up... I guess this is just one more thing! Congrats L & D!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas - a day late! We realized this would be our last Christmas alone... the last year we would be the only ones not chasing around a little one on Christmas Eve. I had to remind Paul as he was putting together our new Wii, that this would probably be the last year he struggled to put together one of OUR toys - from here on out they will probably all be for the kids!
There was a big snow storm this year, so traveling was a bit tricky, however we were able to make it up to Zumbrota for church and family time on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day we made the super LONG trek (all 100 yards or so) down to the farm. Overall, it was a great holiday!

6 Months

Hi Little One!
Today is December 21st, the Winter Equinox, or the shortest day of the year. Your due date is June 21st, the Summer Solstice, or the longest day of the year! That means it is 6 months until your due date! So much to do before then, but yet it still doesn't seem like enough time!
We think about you everyday! Mom & Dad

Swish-Swish-Swish

I heard the little heartbeat today for the first time! How amazing to hear that little swishing sound! The reality that there is a baby in there is starting to set in! I also had my first glucose test and another tsh test today. All results were positive!

Another first today - I bought my first pregnancy book! What to Expect When You are Expecting is now part of my collection.

The Beginning...

A co-worker here at work is also pregnant and encouraged my to start a journal. I'll never get around to writing in a book, but typing might be more feasible! I plan to print this all and save it for baby L to read when they are older. Besides... it's just a good way to remember!

I suppose I should start at the beginning! We discovered that baby L would be a part of our lives on Sunday, October 25th, 2009. I had just returned from a trip to the National FFA Convention and things just didn't seem quite right. I took a test that morning and it was positive! Paul wasn't home, so I waited until that night to tell him. I told him while we were lying in bed and he looked at me and said, "I love you." unlike how he had ever said it before! We were surprised to learn that Baby L was growing inside me, but excited all the same!

It was hard keeping the secret, especially since I wasn't feeling super great. Keeping the secret from Carrie and mom was the worst!

Our first appointment was on November 18th. That is when we got to see Baby L for the first time! He/she was moving around ALOT on the ultrasound, I guess they were excited to see us too! Everything looked A-OK and that was a relief!

We decided to tell the families on November 20th. They are all very excited to meet Baby L!

Since then others have found out and are excited about Baby L's entry into this world as well. I am still struggling with morning sickness, as brushing my teeth gets me everytime! Yesterday I started getting headaches, which I have been assured is normal. I continue to drink lots of water and pee every 2 hours! Sleeping isn't going so well and I remember my dreams very vividly... and the dreams are WEIRD!

Another appointment later this week - hope all goes well! M
